Visual Schedule Awesomeness

I just wanted to share something that is a very central part of our day to day activities in our autistic household.

We usually start the day with out morning “to do’s”. Once those have been completed, I will replace those images with pictures of places we need to go that day in order. We will go over them together so they know the plan. If it is a really out of the ordinary day, I will take a picture of the schedule on my phone to reference later with them. Once we are home, the images are changed to our remaining tasks and to do’s of the day.

Do the kiddos constantly look at it? No. But do they often go to it to reference it? Yes. This tool helps set expectations, a plan for the day. My son in particular LOVES having a schedule as it helps with his anxieties and he feels prepared for each day.

Here is a PDF that is a basic idea and outline for you to use. Highly recommend you go to Canva and create personalized images to add to your schedule. We went as far as to include real pictures of places or family we may be seeing that day. https://www.canva.com/design/DAGlOLe0-GY/Ztckgy778Lv1SqIBmln_Tg/edit?utm_content=DAGlOLe0-GY&utm_campaign=designshare&utm_medium=link2&utm_source=sharebutton

Hope this helps! Definetly recommend adding this to your daily routine!
